Every summer Broward College students and alumni get together to direct, choreograph, and perform in a summer dance concert to raise money for student scholarships. On Saturday, July 22, they performed in the Summer Dance Showcase, UNSHAKEN to raise money for students through the Talamo-Mosquera Dance Scholarship. All proceeds of the event went towards this scholarship; making a difference in dance education for all. Nearly 350 people attended the event, raising $4,177 for scholarship support.
The Talamo-Mosquera Dance Scholarship Fund was established by Broward College dance professors Daniela Wancier and Sabrina Talamo in memory of Talamo’s grandparents, Martin Mosquera, Dora Talamo, and Pasquale Talamo to assist dance students who are driven, committed, hardworking and passionate, but face financial obstacles.
The showcase was co-directed by Broward College alumni Adrienne Sherice and Brianna Miller under the direction of Broward College Dance Professor Sabrina Talamo. It featured student and alumni dancers in nine choreographed pieces that spanned a range of styles and compositions.
