Helios Education Foundation has launched a website dedicated to celebrating and highlighting the inspirational stories of their 2019-2020 Helios Education Foundation First-Generation Scholars.
Annually, Helios Education Foundation, along with partner colleges and universities throughout Florida, shape the kind of impact that changes lives, empowers students to connect their potential to limitless possibilities, and strengthen communities by ensuring more first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students complete a postsecondary degree.
At a virtual town hall hosted by the College, on June 19, 2020, Paul J. Luna, President and CEO of the Helios Education Foundation, announced a $1.2 million philanthropic investment to establish the Helios-BC2FIU Scholarship program. The new scholarship, available to students starting their academic journey at Broward College in the fall of 2020, is a collaboration between Broward College (BC) and Florida International University (FIU) to promote equitable outcomes for underserved, minority, and first-generation students. The scholarship provides a seamless pathway to complete an Associate of Science degree at Broward College and transfer with guaranteed admission to Florida International University to complete their baccalaureate degree.
This new Helios Education Foundation website highlights these students and their stories to illustrate the transformational power of education.
